The Big Idea Productions provides a wide array of music services from instrumental performance for studio and stage to commercial music composition and production. TBIP also provides musical education programs in private and class settings.

Mike Savino is available as an instrumentalist for your next performance or recording project. Specializing in double bass (arco and pizzicato), electric bass, 5-string banjo, soprano banjo, guitar, and vocals, Savino is an expert sight-reader and arranger and will bring years of experience to your project. :: Education and Workshops ::

Mike Savino is available for workshops, artist residencies and private one on one instruction for grade school through university as well as continuing adult education.

Mr. Savino's classes employ his unique "5 point pivot" string method that has helped countless students overcome the difficulties of playing string instruments. He is a patient teacher with a deep knowledge and years of experience with jazz, classical, and folk music traditions. With over 10 years teaching experience, Mike has developed the simplest means to convey these concepts to his students.

Private lessons usually last from 60 to 75 minutes and are tailored to the individuals needs and personal goals. Beginners always welcome!

About Mike Savino

Multi-Instrumentalist and maverick composer Mike Savino transcends musical borders, crafting heavily rooted American folk music with overtones of circus and Afro-Brazilian rhythms.

Performing on Double Bass, Electric Bass, 5 string Banjo, Cavaco, and Vocals, Savino has been a mainstay on the New York music scene for over 10 years. A graduate of New School University's prestigious Jazz and Contemporary music program, Mike has toured with countless artists including Kate Havnevik, Leroy Powell, Scott Kettner's Nation Beat, Gina Gershon, and Ljova & the Vjola Contraband as well as fronting his own string band Savinoland.
