Wishing you a safe and happy Holiday Season

I'd like to thank you for your ongoing support.
2007 sure was a blast.
I had fun rambling in and out of town playing music for you. I made a lot of new friends and saw many beautiful places. I'm looking forward to doing it again in 2008.
Early spring will see some new music from Savinoland as well as a new record from Nation Beat on the Modiba imprint featuring the new line up and special appearance by the Grammy Winning group Klezmatics.
In the meantime, check out some performances I did with my good friend Leroy Powell over on his myspace page.

Nation Beat on the Farm

The Nation Beat is hard at work on it's sophmore record. Recently signed to the Modiba label, the band is digging deeper into the relationship between American country and roots music and the the rural sound of North-Eastern Brazil.
With an amazing new singer, guest appearances from The Klezmatics and Cyro Baptista, this album, recorded entirely on a farm in upstate NY is sure to cause a ruckus. Coming Spring 2008

Well, just like it does every year, summer is slipping away. I had a great time rambling in and out of town, performing with my friends and making some new ones along the way.

Some highlights include the Ingenuity Festival in Cleveland with the Nation Beat, The Ljova Contraband Wedding Extravaganza and of course The Belleayre Hotel Cafe Festival with Kate Havnevik and the rest of the Hotel Cafe crew (right). Click here for more pics of that festival.

OK, I can smell spring now.
I was lucky enough to partially escape winter's final efforts this March with trips to the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas and a few dates in Los Angeles with my new friend Kate Havnevik. If your a fan of the television show Grey's Anatomy you might have heard her already. She's had an unprecedented 7 songs placed in the series. She's a total sweetheart and sings like an angel. If you don't know about Kate or her music please check out her website.

This will be a very special Savinoland show as my usual cast of characters will be on the road. I have chosen to assemble possibly the world's first BANJO STRING QUARTET. We will be graced with the presence of Violist extrordinaire LJOVA, cellist to the stars Christopher Hoffman, and introducing Slappy McSlapsalot on the fiddle. Likely a few guests will pop in and as always I'll gracefully blow the lyrics to a new song.

3/3/07 Brazilian Adventures
Hey People, It's back to coats and hats for me in NYC after 3 incredible weeks in the Northeast of Brazil. The amazing experience I shared performing and studying with Nation Beat is just beginning to sink in. Together we had the pleasure of performing and recording with masters of Brazilian music Mestre Manoel Salustiano, Donna Cila do Coco, and Jorge Martins as well as making some new friends including Cabruera who just plain tear it up!!! Check them out.
I also had a blast hanging with Brad from Calabash Music, a great website to discover new music from around the world. We had the great experience of watching Maracatu Nação Estrela Brilhante rehearse right before Carnaval. Read his blog about it and buy Estrela Brilhante's CD from Calabash. Proceeds go to benefit the musicians directly in a community that is in need. It's cheap. Grab the Nation Beat's record Maracatuniversal while your at it. Calabashmusic.com
Check out some pics of the trip here

Looking forward . . .
Some great music coming up including shows with my fine viola wielding pal Ljova, the Kaiku girls, and my new friend, Grey's Anatomy songster, Kate Havnevik.
